Out of the Blue
Out of the Blue features a variety of mixed media work by members of Spectrum ArtWorks. These artists frequently exhibit together, some of their shows dealing expressly with the experience of living with mental illness and some not. In Out of the Blue, Spectrum ArtWorks artists will take the opportunity to each display a significant new piece of work that highlights their own personal style while finding a common thread and theme in the blues: blue as a color, the blues as music and as a state of mind passed through by all.
Spectrum ArtWorks is a non-profit visual art program in the heart of Minneapolis that provides studio space and community for artists living with a mental illness. In addition to producing amazing art Spectrum ArtWorks Artists work to educate the public and break down stigma associated with mental illness.
